Waterfront dining beneath Sydney’s newest landmark roof
The new Sydney Fish Market opened at Blackwattle Bay in January 2026 under a sweeping timber roof by 3XN/GXN with BVN and ASPECT Studios, built by Multiplex. Along its waterfront promenade, undercover dining looks straight out across the water to the Anzac Bridge.
Challenge
Dining on a working harbour asks a lot of furniture: it has to handle sun, salt air and constant turnover, clear away quickly at close, and still look at home beneath one of the city’s most talked-about new buildings.
Solution
Light powder-coated metal café chairs and tables in a soft sage green run the length of the promenade, with solid timber cube seats adding a natural, hard-wearing counterpoint.
Results
The furniture keeps the promenade relaxed and easy to move through, so the view, the light under the roof and the food stay centre stage.
