RMIT School of Global Urban and Social Studies (GUSS)
Creating a smarter, more flexible university workspace designed to support wellbeing, collaboration, and the future of learning.
Located in the heart of RMIT University’s City campus, the School of Global, Urban and Social Studies (GUSS) was designed to reflect the identity, culture, and evolving needs of its occupants. Spanning two levels, the project called for a highly functional and adaptable workplace environment that would support collaboration, focus, and everyday wellbeing for staff and students alike.
The key challenge was to deliver a large-scale ergonomic workstation solution that balanced flexibility, functionality, and affordability. The space required over 300 workstations in a variety of configurations, while ensuring every user had access to ergonomic adjustment and personal comfort without compromising on aesthetics or budget.
TCW partnered closely with the project team to supply a tailored furniture solution that aligned with the design vision and operational needs of the school. The project featured EON sit-to-stand workstations, Domino task chairs, and mobile storage units throughout the space.
The EON workstations incorporated warm natural woodgrain finishes paired with PET acoustic panels used for workstation screens and privacy dividers, creating a workspace that felt both functional and inviting. To ensure ergonomic flexibility across the workplace, TCW supplied 360 sit-to-stand desks with crank height adjustment mechanisms, providing users with the ability to easily adapt their work setting throughout the day while delivering a cost-effective solution for the project.
The completed GUSS workspace delivers a modern, flexible, and highly ergonomic environment that supports productivity, comfort, and collaboration. Through thoughtful furniture selection and practical ergonomic solutions, TCW helped create a workplace that reflects the identity of the school while enhancing the day-to-day experience of its occupants. The result is a welcoming and adaptable campus environment designed to support the future of learning and work.
