Gen-Y
Gen-Y works from a 50 × 50mm leg and rail, a square profile that reads quieter than a splay leg and sits more easily in a room with other furniture. The same frame makes a single desk, a back-to-back pair, a longer run, a 120° three-way or a 90° four-way cluster, and an L-shaped return. The 120° cluster is the one worth knowing about: three places around a common centre, each with its own screen, which fits more people into a floor plate than a straight bench and gives each of them a corner rather than a neighbour at the elbow. The 90° four-way does the same in a square footprint. Tops are 25mm commercial-grade board in laminate or veneer, with a scalloped power cutout and an under-desk cable tidy. Power, data and USB modules mount above or below. Screens are Perspex, 12mm PET, fabric-wrapped OXO, or Slimline III aluminium-framed with a function rail for shelves and trays. Floor levellers throughout. The frame is designed to come apart and go back together, so a floor can be reconfigured or put into storage between tenancies rather than replaced. Backed by a ten-year warranty.
